Selection Policy
How pages are chosen
Entries are chosen for whether they help SPIRA SUURA’s own practice — that is, whether they show at least one of the following:
- Mathematics, or natural forms and patterns, that can become the subject of a work
- Techniques or tools that can be brought into practice
- Artists, works or exhibitions that inform how work can be expressed
- The practicalities of showing and selling work
Pages whose subject lies outside these fields are still included when their methods are useful. Works that turn scientific data into moving images, for instance, are listed as data-visualization references because of how they map values to colour or handle time.
What is not included
- Things that offer no technique to learn from, such as galleries of prompt-only AI images
- Pages whose content cannot be verified, or that are no longer accessible
- Pages that republish others’ work or writing without permission
- SPIRA SUURA’s own work (shown at spirasuura.com)
Descriptions and classification
Every description is written from scratch, in both Japanese and English, after reviewing the page. No text or images are copied from linked pages. Whole sites are listed alongside individual articles, papers and videos, each with hierarchical categories, media, technologies and a type.
Figures
The figure shown with each entry is generated by code from its ID (Lissajous and rose curves). It is not an image of the linked work.
Verification dates
Each entry shows the date it was added and the date it was last checked — the day its URL and content were confirmed. Broken links and major changes lead to an update or removal.
“Often revisited”
This mark goes on pages SPIRA SUURA keeps coming back to while working. No entry is ever paid for. Services related to showing and selling work are described objectively, not promoted.
